Matching Grant Program for
Old Vehicle Replacement
The Old Vehicle Replacement Matching Grant Program (Budget 2026) offers incentives of up to
RM4,000 (RM2,000 from the Government + RM2,000 from the manufacturer) for owners who
replace vehicles aged 20 years and above with a new locally manufactured vehicle.
Key Program Details:
Objective:
To encourage the disposal of old vehicles (20 years and above) and transition to newer, safer, and more environmentally friendly vehicles.
Incentive Value:
RM2,000 (Government Grant) + RM2,000 (Manufacturer Matching Grant, e.g., Proton) = RM4,000 total incentive
Eligibility Requirements:
- Old vehicle must be 20 years or older
- Vehicle deregistration must be completed via JPJ e-DeREG
- Vehicle must be disposed of at an Authorized Automotive Treatment Facility (AATF) – Car Medic AATF
Participating Manufacturers:
Proton and Perodua (targeted)
Exclusions:
The new Proton Saga model and EV e.MAS 7 are only eligible for a maximum incentive of RM2,000 (subject to terms and conditions).
This initiative aims to ensure unsafe vehicles are permanently removed from the road and replaced with safer, more modern vehicles.
