What is an AATF (Authorised Automotive Treatment Facility)?
An Authorised Automotive Treatment Facility (AATF) is a licensed facility authorised to carry out the proper dismantling, depollution, recycling, and disposal of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) in accordance with environmental regulations and guidelines.
At Car Medic, vehicles are processed through proper disposal channels to ensure hazardous materials are handled safely and responsibly. Car Medic is licensed by the Department of Environment (DOE) Malaysia and officially recognised by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) — Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia — to provide vehicle disposal services.
What is an End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV)?
An End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) refers to a vehicle that is no longer roadworthy, economical to repair, abandoned, severely damaged, burnt, or no longer wanted by the owner.
Why should I dispose of my car at an AATF?
Disposing of your vehicle through an AATF ensures that:
· Your vehicle is disposed of legally and responsibly
· Your vehicle is deregistered in JPJ system
· Hazardous waste is handled properly
· Vehicle parts and materials are recycled appropriately
· You receive proper disposal documentation such as a Certificate of Destruction (CoD)
· The vehicle will not be illegally reused or abandoned
Can I scrap my car if I have outstanding payments?
No, any car that has outstanding loan or finance payments would still belong to the respective financial lenders. All outstanding loans will have to be paid before the vehicle deregistration process can take place.
Can anyone scrap my car without my permission?
No. Vehicle disposal and deregistration can only be carried out with the consent and authorization of the registered vehicle owner
Can I scrap my car if it is burnt or in poor condition?
Yes. Burnt, accident-damaged, flood-damaged, incomplete, or non-running vehicles may still be eligible for disposal, subject to document verification & vehicle deregistration status.
What cannot be left inside the vehicle before disposal?
Please remove:
· Personal belongings
· Cash or valuables
· Important documents
· Electronic devices
· Access cards
· House keys
· Number plates (if required)
You should also ensure no prohibited or hazardous personal items are left inside the vehicle.
Can Car Medic collect my car if it is dirty or unclean?
Yes. Vehicles can still be collected even if they are dusty, dirty, or have been unused for a long period of time.
What should I do if I accidentally leave personal items inside the car?
Please inform Car Medic immediately before the vehicle is processed or dismantled. While we will do our best to assist, recovery may not be possible once disposal processing has begun.
Documents
What documents are required for vehicle disposal at Car Medic?
Required documents may include:
· Copy of owner’s IC/passport
· Vehicle Grant / VOC
· JPJ deregistration document (JPJK1D)
· Signed Vehicle Disposal Application Form
· Supporting documents (if applicable)

What is a Certificate of Destruction (CoD)?
A Certificate of Destruction (CoD) is an official document issued after the vehicle has been properly destroyed and processed through the authorised disposal channel.
It serves as proof that the vehicle has been disposed of responsibly through an AATF.
What is a JPJK1D Letter?
The JPJK1D Letter, also known as the Surat Pembatalan Pendaftaran Kenderaan, is an official vehicle deregistration confirmation issued by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) — Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia.
It serves as proof that the vehicle registration has been officially cancelled and that the vehicle is no longer legally allowed to be used on the road. This document is required before the vehicle can proceed for permanent disposal through an AATF such as Car Medic.
Do I need to deregister my vehicle at JPJ before scrapping it?
Yes. Vehicle deregistration with JPJ is required before the vehicle can be permanently disposed of.
What happens if I do not deregister my car at JPJ before scrapping it?
The vehicle may still remain legally registered under your name. This can potentially expose the registered owner to future liabilities, summonses, taxes, or misuse of the vehicle identity.
Payments
How will I receive payment for scrapping my car?
Payment or compensation (if applicable) is typically transferred directly to the registered owner’s bank account after vehicle towing has been completed usually within 24 hours.
How much is my vehicle worth?
The value of your vehicle depends on several factors, including:
· Vehicle model and age
· Vehicle condition

Collections
Can my car be collected while I am at work?
Yes, subject to vehicle deregistration status, case arrangement and document completion. An authorised representative may also assist, depending on the case requirements.
Can I send my vehicle directly to Car Medic?
Yes. You may send your vehicle directly to Car Medic.
However, we strongly recommend contacting us before visiting our office or facility so our team can assist in checking whether all required documents and conditions are complete, as disposal requirements may vary depending on the vehicle and case type.
Do I need to pay Car Medic for towing?
No. Towing and vehicle collection services provided by Car Medic are free of charge for vehicle owners.
Disposal Process
What is the disposal process at Car Medic?
The general vehicle disposal process at Car Medic is as follows:
1. Vehicle owner contacts Car Medic for assistance and assessment
2. Vehicle owner completes the JPJ vehicle deregistration process and receives the JPJK1D Vehicle Deregistration Letter
3. Towing and vehicle collection arrangement
4. Vehicle arrives at Car Medic’s AATF facility
5. Depollution and dismantling process
6. Recycling and waste management
7. Issuance of Certificate of Destruction (CoD) as official verification of disposal
